At a time when all of us are hell bent on boosting our immunity, we are all silently suffering from 'Ushna'. Simply put Ushna is heat in the body. Most of the items that are good for immunity like garlic, ginger, cloves, pepper, turmeric, saffron, etc are all hot foods that is why they are good at keeping cough and cold at bay by creating ushna in the body. For good immunity and general wellbeing there should be a balance of the doshas.
Intermittent Fasting also causes Ushna in the body because in the limited meals that we have, it is very difficult to have a balance of cool and hot foods. Diets such as LCHF and Keto which emphasise on protein intake inherently are heat causing.
