Thalipeeth is the perfect vehicle to transport multi grain flours. It's spicy, it's crispy, it pairs well with butter AND you can add any combo of flours. You can make it with just 3 Rice, Wheat and Jowar or with 5 with Besan, Bajra. I've added Rajgira Flour (Amaranthus) and toasted Flax Seed Powder. You can add black sesame or poppy seeds, garlic, chopped dil leaves.. There is no limit to the customizations possibilities. I personally like such foods. You can make them often and they never taste the same! If you leave out the wheat flour, it's totally gluten free too!
The Husband is not very fond of 'weird' flours as he calls them. In the past I've fed him one too many odd tasting chapatis 😅 however he very happily approved of this roti.
Opening my 20hr fast, I had 3 small ones for my OMAD with curd spiced with green chutney. With reduced food, it becomes more important to focus on the quality of food. Trying to fit in all the macros is a difficulty task. Thalipeeth with its various flours has it all.
THALIPEETH
Serves 2
1/4 cup Bajra Flour
1/4 cup Jowar Flour
1/4 cup Rajgira Flour
1/4 cup Besan
1/4 cup Rice Flour
1/4 cup Whole Wheat Flour
2tsp Salt
1tsp Ajwain
1tsp Jeera
1tbsp White Sesame
1tbsp Dhania Powder
1 finely chopped Onion
5 finely chopped Green Chillies
1/2 cup chopped Coriander
2 sprigs chopped Curry leaves
🌿 In a bowl, mix all ingredients and form a soft dough with water. Add water slowly and not all at once.
🌿 With greased fingers shape roti directly onto a cold tava or make roti on a banana leaf/ butter paper/ plastic cover and then transfer onto tava.
🌿 Make 3-5 holes for the roti to cook evenly. Drizzle oil all around and into the holes.
🌿 Cook both sides on medium high flame.
