Homemade Green 'Tea' mix

I had harvested some Amrit Bel (Giloy) leaves and stems from my balcony plant about a 4-5 days back. I spread the Giloy leaves and stems along with curry leaves (approx 300gms) over a large sheet pan and dehydrated it in the oven at 60-70°C for about 3-4 hrs. It can also be sun-dried. But there is main road near my house and since I don't want to make tea with cement and dust so.. I dried it in the oven. So clever of me huh? 😎

After thorough drying, blitzed it the mixer and Viola! I have Giloy-Sweet Neem powder ready for my 'green tea' to keep the fast going..

I've kept the stems in a separate box because I will steep it in water and make a decoction of it, whereas the leaves powder will dissolve in the water and consumed with it.

This is one of the simple things that we can do at home and not buy from outside. Reading labels and wondering how a product has 2yrs shelf life, when ordinarily it doesn't last 3months before going rancid, makes me paranoid. Homemade is a little tedious but less stressful.. also there is some joy is making stuff at home.

Giloy or Amrit Bel is multifaceted herb. It's medicinal benefits range from anti inflammatory, managing blood glucose, immunity booster to improved digestion, and,
Curry leaves are a rich source of iron and folic acid. It's good for the hair, nails, immunity, digestion and diabetes!

Uff!
